We are using Dadant Bee Hives. The various variations of the Dadant hive available. We are using the square 12 Frame model (there is also a 10-frame model), often referred to as Dadant modified, Dadant US or Buckfast Dadant. Below is the hive with the floor, landing board, broad chamber and shallow metal roof. The outer dimensions are 509 mm x 509 mm.
Note bee space is at the bottom.
Floor
Open mesh floor with plastic correx, entrance block and optional landing board. Landing boards are painted in different colours to minimise drifting. External measurement 497 mm × 505 mm and 90mm high.
Broodbox
The brood box is square, measuring 509 mm x 509 mm. It features two stainless rails to minimize the contact area of the frames and carved handle space on all four sites.
Crown Board
